Goal of graduate medical education
As per the regulations on graduate medical education the MBBS course is divided in to phases – I, II, and III.
PHASE - I : During this phase every student undergoes a one year period of study of pre-clinical subjects for two semesters. These subjects are
Human Anatomy
Human Physiology including bio-physics
Human Biochemistry
Introduction to Community Medicine
including Humanity.
At the end of second semester term there is first professional university examination.
Examination after one year is in the following subjects :
ANATOMY
PHYSIOLOGY
BIOCHEMISTRY
PHASE - II : During this phase every student undergoes a one and a half years period of study of Para-clinical subjects for three semesters along with Clinical subject. These subjects are :
At the end of Fifth semester term there is second professional university examination (i.e. Two & a half years after admission) in the following subjects :
PHARMACOLOGY
PATHOLOGY
MICROBIOLOGY
FORENSIC MEDICINE AND TOXICOLOGY
PHASE - III, Part I : During this phase every student undergoes a further one year study period of Clinical subjects. At the end of Seventh semester term there is Third professional university examination (Part I of phase III) (i.e. Three & a half years after admission) in the following subjects :
